A Little Febraury Cheer

Have you seen this one yet?
This is one of our all-time youtube favorites. Me and the kids like to clear out the chairs and dance to it. Sometimes Nathan even joins us. (Sorry I don't know how to embed yet.)

Our New Landscaping

Just kidding.
This was taken at the L.A. temple last month.

But we did spend a lot of time in the yard this week. Nathan tilled the garden area Friday. Here it is all raked even and ready to plant. Fun times for me next week!

Still picured are the surviving broccoli plant--(do you think it will produce a second year?) and a little patch of carrots (they never really grow that well.) We're saving them to feed the horses next time we go to visit.

My landscape design friend, Taryn, recommended some shrubs for the front so that motivated me and Anna to dig the grass roots out (it looks so much better!) and get ready for their Saturday delivery. Can't wait for these to grow!

I really love spring garden preparation time. It consistantly makes me grateful for God's creations and helps me appreciate my stewardship over the one's I'm responsible for.

Snow Days

Saturday: Made a 90 minute drive to Kennedy Meadows with 5 youth in van. Not a ton of snow but we got in several hours of good sledding. Had to pull-over once halfway down the switch backs in 9-mile canyon because we smelled burning rubber. So glad Sister Wonnacott told me about their brakes once smoking coming down that canyon so I knew to watch for it.

Monday: Pouring rain most of the day except when it snowed huge slushy wet snowflakes for like 40 minutes while the girls were at gymnastics class. They got out in time to try to catch them on their coats and tongues. Lydia exclaimed. "It's snowing in Ridgecrest! It's our first snow of the year!" So exciting when you don't have to deal with it for 4 or 5 months straight, huh.

Back to sunny nice weather again today, but we're enjoying our brief rainy season immensely.

Nathan, our Hero

Happy Birthday to Dad, our Hero!

No more cheesecake.

The next day I heard Anna, "I want some of daddy's cake." Crash! A whole half of left-over cheese cake smashed on the kitchen floor. We couldn't even save the clean part cause it was smothered in glass shards. We had to break the bad news to Nathan that we wouldn't have any birthday dessert left for him when he got back from his work trip. So sad!

Cheesecake

Cheese cake again?
Nathan made it (from the Jello box) for my birthday. While he was at it he picked up a box for himself too. It was yummy. I don't think we can get too much.

Happy Birthday to Me!!!

Here's Nathan building the sandbox for my birthday present. I'm so excited!!!
