It's a jungle out there

The weather has been a little cooler than usual for the last couple months and I've totally been loving spending time in the garden several days a week. But it was still getting away from the me. The weeding had become completely unmanagable so Nathan generously agreed to help me tackle it last weekend (June 12&13). We cleaned out the four rows of peas and corn (already out of season) that were completely overrun with crabgrass. Finally made it to the tomatoes and peppers and discovered hidden treasures.
(Well, we already knew they were there and have harvested several, but they were well hidden.) Hope to get to the onions and melons soon.I love working with Nathan!
Here's a shout out for my super slave. And a big thanks to the parents who raised such a great guy!

The greatest Dad

Happy Fathers Day to you, Dad.

Have fun with your new toys.
We gifted him with new p.j. pants and sweats (goodbye to the old greens from freshman year of college.) I went shopping in the clearance toy section so he also got a cool fabric kite, a yo-yo, and a transformer that Sam thinks should belong to him.

Friday Fun

Friday is fun day at swim lessons. Anna enjoyed the slide and jumping off the diving board.
Luckily it was Dad's Friday off so he got to come and play with Lydia and Sam who were still too cautious to try the daring activities.

Fun at the pool

The girls had a semi-private swim lesson this week because all the regular classes were filled up. Lydia had to miss two lessons because they took too much out of her after having had a really bad case of the stomach flu last Saturday and Sunday. We tried to get Sam to take her place one day but he was still too scared in the big pool. Anna learned a lot and had a very positive experience. The one-on-one days were probably good for her.

To Todd

We tried to videocam Uncle Todd to sing to him, but he was at Young Men's. We couldn't wait until he got home to eat the cake so he'll have to watch it in past-tense. Happy Birthday!

School Days

Lydia graduated from kindergarten this week. She has worked hard and learned A LOT. We're especially appreciative of her wonderful teacher who has helped Lydia thrive and bloom in her little social and academic group this year.
Here's her class getting ready to perform a few of the favorite songs they have learned this year.
This is the picture I took to use as part of a gift for Mrs. Garcia. Sadly, Lydia was sick the day I had to take it so she wasn't in the original one that was part of the gift. Here's my try at a rough cut and paste. (Anyone willing to teach me some photoshop skills?)

Lydia's Birthday

A Happy Birthday party with three of our neighbor friends!

Princess Sightings

Pixie Hollow

A brand new attraction called pixie hollow was one of the more enjoyable lines to wait in with a babbling brook, bridges, tiny grasses and flowers meant to look like they were fairy size.

When you get to your turn in the line you suddenly turn as tiny as a fairy and the (brass) grass and flowers loom over your head. You get a couple of minutes to persanally talk with the fairies and take pictures. And of course a professional photographer snaps several for you buy later.
The kids liked it even better than the princess walk. 1) because we had already waited in line for the princesses and Lydia knew what to expect when we get to meet them. 2) because we had just seen the tinkerbelle movie two weeks earlier and they were still really excited about fairies.

Princess Walk

This was our first attraction on the second day. Lydia totally didn't want to meet the princesses. She cried and Nathan held her and I made her go with us anyway. The princesses noticed her birthday badge and tried to get her to interact, but she insisted on being shy. By the third princess she was finally willing to get in the picture.

Jasmine

Cinderella
When we saw Belle Sam kept looking around the whole time for the beast. Belle told us he was shy and didn't want to come out. But in every picture he's looking off in the distance in search of Beast.
