The creative elf

Dad:  That is one creative elf!
Anna: (infomatively) It's not an elf it's a monster.
Sam: No.  It's not a monster.  I just made a whole bunch of nostrils and eyeballs to make it a silly elf.
Anna: It's spooky.
Sam:  (very upset) Nooooo!  It's silly
Anna:  It's spooky.
Sam: Nooooo! It's silly
Anna: ...spooky....

Anna got the last word since the topic conveniantly changed.  They were both pretty adament about their position.  (picture to follow)

Trunk or Treat

Saturday was the ward trunk or treat.  Here's the kids showing off their loot.

And since we aren't sick yet, let's go out again on Halloween for some more!

Friday Fun

We kicked off the weekend with school halloween parties and costume parade followed by the harvest carnival after school on Friday.

Halloween Parade
Sam's tuna sandwich spider
(patterned after the cookie/pretzel/peanut-butter spider created at school that day.)
Carnival Fun
Anna thought it would be great to put on the cowboy dress-ups for the carnival, so the others obliged.
Yee haw!

Seven months!

Thanks for the Valentine Grandma and Grandpa.  Paper is my favorite thing to eat right now and it was delicious!

Snow Day

We got home from Utah just in time for the Ridgecrest snow.  It starting snowing Sunday afternoon and kept it up almost all evening.  The trees and yards were beautiful by the time we went to bed.  We woke up to even more snow and were glad to get the call that school was canceled for the day. Hooray!

It was starting to melt when we went out to build our snowman around 10:30 am.  But we got some good snow fun in.  Even Mr. Snowy joined in on the snowball fight.
After getting our fill in the front yard, Anna and Lydia still had enough energy to help me tackle the backyard.  For two desert girls, I was surprised at how well they could roll a snowball.  It was really great packing snow, but melting fast! They got tired and went in after the finishing the bottom part of the fort and I really wanted to go in to spend family time with them. But I just had to keep at it til I'd made good use of every bit of snow out there.

For my brothers and me, superheroes filled our dreams,

We'd see 'em on the comics and the TV screen,
And we'd dream about how with our super-powers we would save the day.
Now I'm grown and I know superheroes aint real,
But still that doesn't change the way I feel
About truth and justice; the virtues of heroes never fade away.
