I have to report the funny conversation I had with Lydia today when she got home from school.
Lydia: Mom, I’m going to have a birthday next Monday.
Mom: You are? They’re going to celebrate your birthday? (Confused, her birthday's in June.)
L: No, it’s Martin’s birthday!
M: Oh, is the invitation in your backpack? (Looking in her bag).
L: No. I don’t have an invitation.
M: Oh, (pause, guessing again) You’re just going to celebrate it at school?
L: No, I’m not going to school on Monday. I’m staying home that day.
M: You are? Then, how are you going to celebrate Martin’s birthday?
L: We’re going to have a party here at our house.
M: Oh, we’re having a birthday party for Martin at our house? (Racking my brain, why would she think she is staying home Monday and who is Martin?)
L: Yes.
M: (Finally it dawns on me.) Oh, you mean Martin Luther King Jr.
L: Yes, today we watched a video about him and my teacher says Monday we’re going to stay home to celebrate his birthday party. (Walking into the kitchen.) Anna, Monday we’re going to have a birthday party for Martin Jr.

That is hilarious! I was guessing Martin was an imaginary friend. You sovled it much quicker than I would have.
